Painters Tape

visit Rustic Painting & Decorating for more info.

 1. Surface Preparation - Make sure the surface is clean and dry

2. Applying tape - Painters' Tape should be applied to a smooth surface. If there are any bumps, the paint may seep under the tape.

3. Don't Stretch - Pull the tape off the roll a few feet at a time and press down a small area. Try not to stretch the tape. It is best to have as much stretch left in the tape as possible.

4. Press Smooth – When you have the tape in place, press along the edges of the tape to establish a flat, smooth contact with the surface

Removal of Tape:

1. Minimum Time – when you project has been painted, you should wait until the paint is dry to the touch, about 1 to 2 hours, before removing Painters' Tape. If you remove the tape while the paint is still wet, you may smudge the line.

2. Maximum Time - the sooner you remove it, the better.

3. Temperature - Tape is best removed in warm temperatures. If the temperature is too high, the adhesive may stick to the surface.

4. Removal Speed – It is best to pull the tape back over itself at
steady pace. Excessive rate of removal may cause tearing.

Removing Painters Tape
Ideally the blue painters tape should be removed within 15 to 20 minutes
after applying the paint.
If you have failed to do this and left the tape on for days,
I have found success in using a hair dryer on the tape and gently pulling the tape
away at a 45 degree angle.

Young Girls room Ballerina Theme

The color of this girl room theme could be a gentle pink with a
A decorative border or a stencil featuring ballet shoes in deeper pink and whites would help to bring this girl room theme idea together.
Plain blinds or shades could be topped with pink netting wrapped loosely around a curtain rod.

Any outgrown Ballerina outfits from your daughter could be framed and hung on the wall, or ballet shoes tied with pretty ribbon to display for decorative purposes.

Are your walls lacking pizzazz?

Try livening things up with a slight twist on a simple coat of paint. Whether it’s a hint of texture or a surprising graphic element, here are some modern paint ideas that are guaranteed to make your walls worthy of a second glance.
Colour blocking is effective for modern spaces, such as an open-concept house, but you can do it anywhere:,
Plan the spacing and arrangement of your shapes on paper, then draw them in pencil on your wall and outline them with painters’ tape.
Choose a colour that relates to something else in the space,
For example; a colour from a picture, or from your bed linen
"It’s a good way to add trendy colour and you can always paint over it later."

You could then Stencil shapes or a design onto the blocking.

Stencil technique never goes out of style,
Stencils add pizzazz to any wall and are a great alternative for accent or borders. Using stencils to paint your walls adds creativity, character and that extra personal touch to any space

Using stencils to paint your walls adds creativity, character and that extra personal touch to any space. Create border pattern using one stencil or a variety of stencils to create your masterpiece.
Stencils can be applied with a brush, color with a variety sponges.
Let your imagination flow as you design and stencil each room.

If your stencil is located in a high traffic area, you may wish to apply a protective finish. Allow the stenciled area to dry for approximately 3-5 days. Then apply a water-based acrylic varnish
