Chalkboard paint

Create a fun, functional chalkboard in any room of your home with paint that is erasable, washable, and durable enough to stand up to lots of little hands.

When you have chosen the area you would like to have your chalkboard
Using painters tape to mark off a desired shape for your chalkboard, and apply Chalkboard paint within the taped-off area.
You could use a decorative frame border to give your chalkboard space an extra personal touch.
· In children's rooms, be sure to make your chalkboard low and large enough so that younger children can reach and have ample space.
· In your office or study, paint a chalkboard, but remember a ledge for the chalk board erasers

Chalk boards have been widely replaced by plastic whiteboards, (we will have info on white boards in another topic) Still the old-fashioned chalkboard has its charm, and a hand-made one-of-a-kind chalkboard is certainly more of a decorating statement

Chalkboard paint will adhere to many surfaces; that allows you to create a chalkboard anywhere!

1. Smooth surfaces make the best chalkboards, so be sure to sand first, if the surface you want to paint is rough.
2. Clean the surface before painting to remove any grit or loose material.
3. Use paint tape to outline the boundary of the chalkboard. Press tape down firmly, over entire length, to ensure a crisp border.
4. If the surface is porous use primer first.
5. Apply the chalkboard paint evenly, with a sponge brush. Or foam roller
6. You may need to apply several coats. It is best to wait 24 hours before re-coating.

Fancy Framed Chalkboards
If you have any old framed pictures, put them to good
You can even use old frames that are empty. Paint a square of chalkboard onto the wall, just slightly larger than the open area within the frame. Then, after the paint dries and the tape is removed, securely mount your frame to the wall.
Cupboard and Pantry Doors
Paint the inside of a cupboard or pantry door with chalkboard paint. You can paint the entire surface, or if the door has a border, just paint the center section.
This is a good place to write down household reminders
